Srem

Sirmium, one of the most significant cities of the Roman Empire, was situated in Srem. When the Empire disappeared, also Sirmium disappeared. Unfortunately, its remains lie under Sremska Mitrovica, but some of them can be seen.

Very near to Sremska Mitrovica is Zasavica, a very interesting place for fishermen and fans. Obledska pond is also an interesting place for birds watching. Monasteries on Fruska Gora are of great both significance and artistic value. And of course, one of the largest fortresses in Europe, Petrovaradin fortress.
