Palic lake


The place and lake Palic (Palićko jezero) are 8 km far from Subotica. The lake is 8 km long, wide from 350 m to 950 m with an average depth of 2 m and encompasses the area of 5,6 square km.

Before the First World War it was a real fancy summer resort and was often compared to most eminent European spa centre – Karlove Vary.

Full of greenness and flowers, surrounded by hotels, tennis courts, mini golf courts, volleyball on sand, swimming pool on open, restaurants, cafés, nicely organized beaches – all these offer ideal conditions for rest and recreation on Palic. You can reach the lake by public transport from Subotica.

Activities

For swimming, there are three organized beaches and one swimming pool:
- man’s walk ( grassy beach, wooden mall, showers, volleyball on sand, paintball, mini golf)
- woman’s walk ( café, showers, cabins, (here you can rent both electrical and bots with vessels, bicycles, small ships, trampoline )
- sandy beach ( showers, volleyball courts, cafes, motor scooters)
- a swimming pool on open with thermal water up to 36 degrees. The water is suitable for rheumatic conditions.

In a boating club is possible to hire a sailboat or a surf board. Here is also one of the oldest tennis clubs in Europe with both open and closed tennis courts, while between tennis courts and summer stage there is a place for jogging. In a village Radanovac, between Palic and Subotica, there is a riding club where you can learn how to ride. There are a few area for walking, one is very popular - Curgo up to Ludosko  lake. It is 2,7 km long.

Also those who like extreme sports can find something for them.



Near the boating club, there is a place for motor kites, so that it is possible to watch the lake from a bird’s perspective.

For the youngest, there is a ZOO with 50 different animals. There is also a small park for children…

There are many manifestations, but the most significant is International Film Festival held every year in the middle of July on one of the most beautiful summer stage in Serbia. Trenchtown is held during the celebration of the International Holiday- May 1st , and it is on an abandoned farm. There are plenty of music and besides it, theatre plays and movies are also a part of entertainment. You can join different workshops also. Even 10 000 people visit the Festival just in a few days.
