The Jokanovic house

 

 

The Jokanovic house is a building, also known as "Pecara", was the property of Stojka and Stevan Jokanovic, a well-known trading family from Užice. The house is well-preserved building of Oriental-Balkan architecture from the 19th century, exceptional not only in Užice, but in the broad surroundings, and has thus been declared a cultural good – an ethnographic monument of culture. Owing to the typical national style it is built in, it houses the Ethnographic Museum. In the Jokanovic house you can see the permanent museum exhibition "The Town House in Užice in the 19th and the Beginning of the 20th Century".
